The Republic of Ireland has been eliminated from the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
The Irish lost 2-1 to Canada on Wednesday despite taking the lead in the game.
McCabe curled in the opening goal directly from the corner in the fourth minute.
However, the Canadians levelled thanks to an own goal from Megan Connolly, before grabbing the winner eight minutes after the break through Adriana Leon.
Canada go top of Group B with four points after they drew their first fixture against Nigeria.
Co-hosts Australia are second with three points, ahead of tomorrow’s clash with the Super Falcons who have only one point.
