Austin Eguavoen, the interim coach of the Super Eagles, has resigned as the Nigerian national team's head coach.

After Nigeria's 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff loss against Ghana's Black Stars, he announced his resignation.

Eguavoen's duty as Technical Director of all national teams will now be resumed.

According to Brila.net, Eguavoen has formally notified the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, of his desire to retire.

Meanwhile, Eguavoen and the Super Eagles snubbed the media after failing to qualify for Qatar 2022 after a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars in the second leg playoff on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

After failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, neither a player nor a coach from the Nigerian team talked to journalists.
