Alex Iwobi knows he needs to keep performing if he wants to become a regular starter under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The 20-year-old forced his way into Premier League action this season with some impressive performances for the Gunners in cup games and as a substitute. And it wasnt long before he announced himself with some well-taken goals.

The young Nigeria international has slotted well into Arsenals attack alongside Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, and admits to being proud at how he has developed at the club this term.

Iwobi told Sky Sports News: Every time I played for the U18s or the U21s, I just tried to perform to the best of my abilities and do the best I could.Whether I got the chance to play with the first team or train with the first team, I always tried to do my best. Where I am today is just crazy.

He added: I want to keep being consistent in my performance. I believe Im doing well so far but you are only as good as your last performance. Each game Im trying to prove to the world and to myself that I can maintain that level of performance.

The more Im progressing Im looking at whats ahead and what I need to do to reach my goals and targets. I dont have time to reflect on the past, Im trying to prepare for the future.
