After the national team struggled to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, enraged Nigerian fans rushed the pitch of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Following their 0-0 draw in Kumasi on Friday, the Super Eagles were counting on home advantage.

However, Thomas Partey gave the Black Stars the lead in the 10th minute of the game.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho mishandled Partey's speculative shot from afar into the net.

Nigeria, on the other hand, drew level through William Troost's penalty and Ekong's, which was awarded after VAR determined that Ademola Lookman had been fouled in the area.

The three-time African champions were unable to score again, and Ghana qualified on the basis of away goals.

Following the final whistle, raucous scenes erupted as home fans stormed the pitch and vandalized their own turf.

After a number of Ghanaian fans were reportedly attacked in the stands, they had to be brought onto the pitch.
