According to the Daily Mail, Mason Greenwood may completely give up football after being devastated by Manchester United's decision to release him.
Six months after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of sexual assault and domestic violence against the 21-year-old, the club in the Premier League has ordered him to leave.
Additionally, United carried out a "internal investigation" and "found that the online information did not give a complete picture and that Mason did not commit the offenses for which he was initially charged."
However, it was “mutually agreed” that “it would be most appropriate for him” to pursue his career “away from Old Trafford.”
Senior Old Trafford officials had earlier said they were willing to give Greenwood another chance, so they have now left him broken.
United changed its mind, though, foreseeing a backlash from the general public.
On Greenwood’s future, a well-informed source said: “I don’t think he is equipped to come back from this. There are players who would be able to think, ‘I have been cleared, so stuff you’. They would just get on and score goals for someone. Mason is not one of those. He’s immature. I really think he’s finished.”
