Former England midfielder Frank Lampard is in advanced talks to accept the Chelsea manager's job on an interim basis.

This was revealed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday evening.

According to him, the final “green light” will be given by Chelsea owners.

Romano wrote: “Frank Lampard is open to accepting Chelsea's job until June; discussions with the representatives are already advanced.
“Final green light to Chelsea owners.
“Chelsea has a new round of talks already scheduled with Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and long-term job candidates.”

Lampard was Chelsea’s permanent boss from 2019 until January 2021, when he was replaced by Tuchel.
