Udogie, then 19 years old, joined Udinese on loan from Hellas Verona last season and quickly established himself as a regular.

The young defender joined Udinese this summer after making 35 league appearances for the Italian club under a loan agreement that included a buyout clause.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed to CaughtOffside via his Substack column that Tottenham have started talks with Udinese about the potential signing of Udogie, suggesting that Udogie may already be on his way out of Udinese.

To help the Italian defender continue to advance, Tottenham has discussed the possibility of loaning him back to Udinese for the season.

Udogie might find it difficult to make the Tottenham team early on after the club signed Ivan Perisic this summer, so it makes sense to give him another chance to play first-team football after he had a productive season in Italy.

As well as signing players who immediately improve the starting eleven, in order to build for the future, signing younger players with high potential is just as important, making the Udogie signing a smart move if Tottenham manage to complete the deal.
