Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has fired back at Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, following Guardiola’s recent remarks comparing their Premier League title tallies.
Guardiola, who has won six English top-flight titles, pointed out his superior record to Mourinho, who has three league crowns to his name.
The tension escalated after Guardiola held up six fingers to Liverpool fans during City’s 2-0 defeat at Anfield last weekend, signaling his title wins. Addressing reporters, Guardiola referenced Mourinho’s past demand for "respect" during his Chelsea days, stating:
"He won three, I won six, but we are in the same boat in that regard."
Mourinho, however, didn’t hold back, making a pointed remark about Manchester City’s ongoing financial fair play charges, saying:
"Guardiola mentioned his six titles compared to my three, but I can proudly say I won mine fairly and cleanly. If I lose, I congratulate my opponent because they were better. I have no interest in winning amidst 150 lawsuits."
The Portuguese tactician’s comments highlight the brewing rivalry and underline the lingering controversy surrounding City’s alleged breaches of financial regulations.
