Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has showered praises on Ademola Lookman for clinching the prestigious 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.



The Portuguese tactician, who led Nigeria to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, hailed Lookman’s exceptional talent and acknowledged the collective effort of his teammates in this remarkable achievement.

“Congratulations @molalookman on winning the CAF Player of the Year 2024 award! This is a well-deserved recognition of your extraordinary talent and your immense contribution to Nigerian and African football,” Peseiro wrote on X.

He further emphasized the importance of teamwork in Lookman’s success:

“It is crucial to acknowledge the role of the Nigerian national team, whose collective efforts were instrumental in this individual accolade. It’s also incredible to witness a Super Eagle winning this award for the second consecutive year, following @victorosimhen9’s triumph last year. Many congratulations!”

With this victory, Ademola Lookman becomes the sixth Nigerian to win the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, joining legends like Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba, Kanu Nwankwo, and Victor Osimhen.

Lookman’s accomplishment cements his place in the history of African football, further shining a spotlight on Nigeria’s rich football heritage.
