Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has warned his club teammates Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus to stay off Switzerland’s goalposts when they meet in the World Cup on Monday.

The Swiss said he had already warned the Brazil duo that he was going to "smash" them when Switzerland faces the South Americans in Qatar.

Switzerland and Brazil meet at Stadium 974 on Monday. Xhaka, who has been in superb form for Arsenal this season, helped the Swiss beat Cameroon 1-0 in their first game.

Brazil, for their part, defeated Serbia 2-0, meaning that a win for any of the sides today will see them progress to the knockout stages.

And Xhaka has sounded out a warning to his Gunners’ colleagues, insisting that being club teammates does not matter now.

“I told Gabby Martinelli and Gabby Jesus if you are running one against one against our goalkeeper I will smash you!” He told reporters on Sunday.
“It doesn’t matter that we are playing on the same team." This is the Word Cup. You play for your own country, and you want to win.
“Of course, they were worried." They know me. "If I smash you, it will be very, very hard.”
