Renowned Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has opened up about the real reason behind her absence from the movie industry, revealing shocking details of how marketers allegedly sabotaged her career.
Taking to her Instagram story on Friday, the actress—who recently tied the knot with her US-based husband, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024—addressed concerns from fans questioning her long hiatus from acting.
According to Okeowo, she faced immense sexual pressure from marketers, which ultimately led to her exit from Nollywood.
"Marketers blacklisted me just because I refused to remove my panties. They instructed producers not to cast me and even went as far as removing my face from the poster of a movie where I played the lead role. How many of their wicked acts should I even mention?" she lamented.
She further expressed how these experiences drained her passion for acting, causing her to develop a deep dislike for the profession she once loved.
"They did so much damage to my career that I eventually walked away myself. I began rejecting roles because I simply lost interest. But that's a story for another day. God will judge the evildoers. Today, I’m thriving and extremely grateful!"
Biodun Okeowo’s revelation has sparked conversations about sexual harassment in Nollywood, bringing attention to the dark side of the industry.
