Nigerian singer Darkoo has taken to social media to accuse Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr.
P of the P-Square duo, of sabotaging her newly released single, Focus On Me. The track, which dropped on January 2, 2024, was reportedly removed from YouTube for six days over alleged copyright issues.
In a viral post on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Darkoo expressed disappointment, alleging that Mr. P took down the video out of spite after she declined his request to be featured on the song. According to her, despite securing all necessary clearances for the sampled track and offering P-Square a 50% share, Peter wanted more.
She explained:
“My music video was taken down for 6 days by Peter of P-Square in an attempt to completely sabotage the song. I have all necessary clearance for the sample. They are receiving 50%, yet Peter wanted to be featured on the song.”
Darkoo further revealed that Mr. P even created a verse for the track and requested she bypass his brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye, in negotiations. She added that while she promised him a spot on the remix, his behavior turned sour once the original song was released.
“Even when I wanted him to be on the remix, that wasn’t enough for him. Instead, he chose to act out of anger and sabotage the track because I didn’t bow to his demands. It’s sad and disappointing.”
As of now, Peter Okoye has not responded to the allegations. This incident adds to the ongoing controversies surrounding the P-Square brothers, who recently made headlines for disputes involving Paul and Jude Okoye.
