Nigerian singer-songwriter Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known by his stage name Charly Boy, has urged young people all over the nation to safeguard their votes at their polling places during the general elections in 2023.

Oputa made the statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, which was held in conjunction with the "Yell Out for Good Governance in Nigeria" event.

He expressed his happiness and pride in the young people of the nation.

“I have told them that the salvation of any country lies in the hands of exceptional people; these people are the great Nigerian youths."
“They already know their rights, but my call to them is that they should stand and defend those rights at the polling booths."
“However, the opposition wants to do it, and I know that the boys are ready to give them back what they get." I don’t have chills in that area; all I can do is wish them well and pray for their safety.
“Nigeria is getting too dangerous for my liking, and because of years of disunity and inaction, there are some sacrifices that need to be made, and we are going to make these sacrifices,” Oputa said.

Regarding the murder of the female leader of the Labour Party in Kaduna, Charly Boy claimed that the previous administration still believed it could follow its own set of rules.

The actor and television host, who was born in Port Harcourt at the age of 72, claims that the old regime is in denial and is unaware of the revolution taking place right in front of their eyes.
