The managing director of Sony Music Publishing Nigeria, Godwin Tom, recently made a startling revelation.
Afrobeats musician Wizkid and R&B singer Wande Coal both admitted in a radio interview that they once took out loans to support their respective music careers.
The music executive explained that Wizkid was not in a financially stable position at the time, but what made him such an inspiring story was the fact that he had faith in himself and what he could one day become. His belief in his own abilities and potential is a testament to his determination and driven mindset.
Furthermore, Godwin went on to explain that this is not an uncommon situation for musicians who are under the management of a record label. Despite having the support of a label, many will still invest their own money and even take a loan to promote their own careers. This creates a strong sense of ownership and responsibility in the artistes and allows them to take complete control and power over the success of their music career.
