Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing embattled singer Speed Darlington, has expressed frustration over the continued detention of his client by the police, despite being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on December 23, 2024.

Speed Darlington, who was rearrested on November 27 for allegedly cyberstalking fellow artist Burna Boy, remains in police custody, sparking outrage from his supporters and legal team.

In a viral Instagram video shared on Friday, Alieke accused the police of blatantly ignoring the court’s bail order. He also hinted at possible foul play, alleging that Burna Boy might have influenced the police with bribes to keep Darlington behind bars.

“We have exhausted every legal and political option to secure his release,” Alieke lamented. “I’ve contacted my political friends in Abuja, yet the police refuse to comply with the court’s decision. There’s absolutely no justification for this defiance.”
Alieke also revealed a disturbing incident that occurred during Darlington’s first arrest in October. “Burna Boy and his team came to the station while I was there with Akpi and my staff. After their meeting, I saw Burna handing out bundles of cash to the police, who were also taking selfies with him. I told my team that if Darlington made another mistake, these people would drill him hard.”

The singer’s ongoing detention has fueled widespread criticism of police misconduct and disregard for judicial authority, with many calling for justice and accountability in the case.
