Darlington Okoye, better known by his stage name Speed Darlington, is a well-known Nigerian singer who has revealed why entertainers choose baby mamas instead of getting married.

Darlington noted in a series of videos posted to his Instagram stories that musicians in the entertainment industry who marry and have children tend to fail, attributing this to the time and effort needed to raise children and maintain a successful marriage.

He cited singers FoxyP and AfricanApe as examples of musicians who had encountered similar difficulties to support his argument. He claimed that these musicians lost their focus after getting married.

He claimed that many entertainers would prefer to have a baby mama than to make whatever relationship they had with the women giving birth to their children legal out of fear of slipping under the radar.

He added that it didn't seem like he would want to get married because it sounded scary, calling wives and children "dream killers" for those in the business.

“There’s a pattern. As soon as you have somebody, there’s a child, and you fade. It doesn’t sound like something I want to do. "It's very scary,” he said.
