The Katsina State Government has commended the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for their outstanding operation against notorious bandit camps in Jibia Local Government Area.

The highly successful mission, conducted on January 4, 2025, neutralized 80 bandits, injured several others, and dismantled numerous hideouts and operational hubs linked to criminal activities.

Dr. Nasir Muazu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, shared this development in a statement on Sunday, describing it as a significant stride toward restoring peace and stability in Katsina State and the broader North West region. The region has long grappled with the devastating impact of banditry, making this victory a beacon of hope for residents.

Targeted and Tactical Operation

The operation focused on key bandit enclaves in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsabaβ€”areas identified through credible intelligence as epicenters of bandit activities. These hubs have been a persistent source of insecurity, affecting Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa Local Government Areas. The mission's success highlights the critical role of actionable intelligence and seamless coordination among security forces in addressing such complex challenges.

Government Praises Security Forces

Dr. Muazu applauded the professionalism and resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces. "The joint efforts of the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 and the 17 Brigade have earned the gratitude of the Katsina State Government and its peace-loving citizens," he stated.

He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel in safeguarding lives and property, reaffirming the government’s unwavering support for their ongoing operations.

Commitment to Peace and Security

This operation marks a critical milestone in the fight against banditry in Katsina and its neighboring states. It underscores the importance of sustained efforts, proactive measures, and robust government backing to ensure long-term security and prosperity in the region.

As Katsina State celebrates this hard-fought victory, it renews its call for vigilance and cooperation among citizens to sustain the gains achieved in this battle against criminality.
