The Nigerian Armed Forces have made a significant breakthrough in the country's war against banditry and terrorism.

N60 million was intercepted on its way to criminals as a ransom for the release of detainees by joint troops.

The most shocking aspect is that some of the couriers apprehended are operatives of unnamed security services.

The military also rescued kidnapped people, including women and children, on intelligence-driven missions.

A Nigerian Army squadron and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces assaulted the bandits and killed a number of them.

The 271 NAF at Birnin Gwari and the Army Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gwaska, Kaduna are part of the contingent.

"During the operations, N60,000,000 in cash, petroleum goods, and sophisticated firearms were recovered," an agent informed PRNigeria.
"We will refer the case of the apprehended couriers, who have security agency identity, to the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for further investigation," said the statement.
Vehicles, AK-47 rifles, magazines, other types of ammo, and cellphones were also retrieved by the troops.
According to Naijacrawl, the DIA reportedly warned the DSS and the military that some individuals were planning to launder suspicious funds through Kaduna.
"In response to the tip, the DSS and the military dispatched Special Forces to the road." The suspects have been apprehended, and the hostages have been rescued, "a source added.

It's unknown if the N60 million confiscated was from a single operation, or if the victims were among those apprehended after the horrific train attack on March 28.
