The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent party member from Kogi State, over allegations of anti-party activities.
The decision was announced on Friday, as per a memo seen by newsmen, and was made by the executive committee of Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 following a review of the disciplinary committee’s report.
Melaye’s recent actions were deemed harmful to the party’s unity and interests, leading to the swift suspension. Although specific details of the alleged activities have not been disclosed, the move underscores the PDP's stance on maintaining party discipline. In Dino comment some weeks ago he said the party is dead and has been buried.
It is important to note that Dino was the party governorship flagbearer in the last election in Kogi state.
This is not the first time the PDP has taken such measures. In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a party chieftain from Osun State, faced a similar suspension for anti-party activities and failure to attend party meetings for two years.
