The Cross River State government has announced the exciting revival of the iconic Obudu Cattle Ranch, heralding a promising resurgence in tourism for the region.

Located on the picturesque Obudu plateau within the Obanliku Local Council area, the ranch has long been a cherished attraction, initially established under the visionary leadership of former Governor Donald Duke. However, in recent years, neglect had taken its toll during the previous administration.

Commissioner for Culture, Art, and Tourism, Abubakar Ewa, shared this transformational update with The Guardian in Calabar, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the state government and CIBA Construction Company to restore the ranch to its former glory. Ewa expressed optimism, stating, "The Obudu Cattle Ranch has already been revamped, with ongoing work that has made significant strides. We have partnered with CIBA Construction Company, alongside Marriot Hotels, to ensure that the ranch is once again ready to welcome tourists and visitors alike."

He further elaborated on the extensive renovations, emphasizing the revival of key amenities essential for the resort's operation. "The water park is bustling with activity, the mountain villas and African huts have been restored, and crucial infrastructure such as power and water supply are fully operational," Ewa confirmed.

Regarding the iconic cable cars that traverse the breathtaking landscape, Ewa revealed that while they are primed for use, final certification from PONNET, the company responsible for their construction, is pending. Local engineers, trained by PONNET, have meticulously serviced the cable cars to ensure safety and efficiency. Ewa stressed the importance of PONNET's certification before the cable cars can resume public operations, underscoring the commitment to uphold international safety standards.
