The PDP has taken steps to stop Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from leaving the party.

A high-level team representing the PDP was dispatched to meet with him in Rivers State.

This delegation includes prominent party figures such as BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi; elder statesman, Olabode George; and Senator Abdul Ningi. They arrived in Port Harcourt on Tuesday with the aim of convincing Governor Fubara to stay with the PDP.

Speculation about Governor Fubara's departure from the PDP has been circulating for several months. The governor had chosen to remain silent on his future actions, leading to further speculation.

During the meeting with the delegation, Governor Fubara expressed uncertainty about his PDP membership but acknowledged that the BoT's visit had reaffirmed his status as a party member.

"However, what is significant this afternoon is that we are still part of the party, and the party's leaders have visited us. So, for those spreading rumors and propaganda, at least this visit will put those rumors to rest and demonstrate to the world that we are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)," he stated.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, the BoT Chairman, disclosed that the party is determined to prevent losing Rivers State to the APC, citing the strong presence of the opposition in the state.

"We were alarmed, Sir, when we heard or read rumors, perceptions, or whatnot, that the party might lose Rivers State if we are not careful. Certainly, if we lose Rivers State, Nigeria would lose its future," he remarked.
