The Delta State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a disturbing crime, with the arrest of Nicholas Charles for the murder of Ngozi Sharon William, a friend of his wife, in Asaba, the state capital.
Revealing this development to reporters in Asaba on Thursday, April 11, 2024, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, disclosed that the incident occurred during a visit by the deceased to the suspect's family residence. According to CP Olufemi, a disagreement between Nicholas and Ngozi escalated to a fatal confrontation, resulting in her tragic death by stabbing.
The suspect, Nicholas Charles, is currently in custody as the investigation into the incident continues to unfold.
Further details obtained by LIB shed light on the relationship between the victim and the suspect's wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Precious Nicholas. Sharon, a mother of three from Enugu State, worked alongside Mrs. Nicholas, assisting in the production of fresh fruit juice and tiger nut drink at their residence. Their collaborative efforts often extended into late-night production sessions, with Sharon relying on rides from either Mrs. Nicholas or Mr. Charles Nicholas to return home safely after work.
However, tensions arose between Sharon and Mrs. Nicholas, prompting Sharon to take a break from work for approximately two weeks. It was during the Easter celebration that Mrs. Nicholas reached out to Sharon, requesting her assistance due to the workload.
Tragically, Sharon's goodwill was met with violence, as she was fatally stabbed just days after returning to work. Her body was discovered dumped on her employer's street, further exacerbating the shock and grief felt by her loved ones.
The unsettling turn of events has led to the arrest of Mr. Charles Nicholas, while Mrs. Ijeoma Precious Nicholas is currently sought by authorities for questioning.
As the investigation progresses, the community mourns the loss of Ngozi Sharon William, a victim of senseless violence, while seeking answers and justice for her untimely demise.
