In a new set of travel guidelines, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced strict conditions for Nigerians seeking to visit the country.

According to reports from Peoples Gazette, solo tourists from Nigeria must now be at least 45 years old to apply for a UAE visa.

While the UAE government has reopened visa applications for Nigerian nationals, they have imposed several stringent requirements. One of the most notable conditions is that Nigerian travelers must maintain a minimum monthly account balance of $10,000 (approximately ₦16 million) to qualify for a 30- or 60-day tourist visa.

The guidelines specify that applicants must submit a six-month bank statement under their name, with a closing balance of no less than $10,000 each month. Additional requirements include a confirmed return ticket with Emirates Airlines, proof of hotel booking, and a valid residence permit for the applicant's current country of residence.

This new policy comes after a prolonged diplomatic standoff between Nigeria and the UAE, which began in September 2022, restricting travel between the two countries.
