Former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori, has praised President Bola Tinubu for greenlighting the construction of the Lagos-Port Harcourt-Calabar Coastal Superhighway.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) granted approval for the ambitious project during its Monday meeting.
In a series of messages shared on his Facebook and X handles, Ibori expressed admiration for Tinubu's courage and determination in advancing the development of the Niger Delta region.
Reflecting on past events, the former governor recalled a significant moment in 2001 when Tinubu, serving as the governor of Lagos State, convened a meeting of South West and South-South governors in Marina. It was during this gathering that the imperative for constructing the coastal superhighway was thoroughly discussed.
Ibori conveyed his appreciation, stating, "Mr. President, I want to applaud your courage and determination for the development of the Niger Delta region, as exemplified by the Federal Executive Council's approval of the construction of the Lagos-Port Harcourt-Calabar Coastal Superhighway."
He continued, "I recall that as governors, we deliberated on the need for the construction of the Coastal road during our meeting of South West and South-South governors, which you hosted in Marina as Lagos State governor in 2001. This project will enhance interconnectivity and boost the economy of the coastal states."
