The immediate former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aliyu Ubandoma, confirming that Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved the appointment.
Attahiru Jega brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as the former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and as the former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The Nasarawa State Government clarified that Jega's appointment was made in accordance with the governor's authority as the visitor to the institution. The statement emphasized that this decision aligns with Governor Sule's commitment to promoting academic excellence within the university.
Governor Sule has also approved the appointments of Shuaibu Kore, Thomas Ogiri, and Mary Enwongulu as members of the governing council. The inauguration of the governing council is scheduled for a later date, as announced by the Secretary to the State Government.
