Amnesty International had recently called on Governor Abba Yusuf to conduct a thorough investigation into the actions of security agencies and the alleged involvement of hired thugs who reportedly disrupted the protests and caused significant damage.

The #EndBadGovernance protests were driven by demonstrators demanding substantial economic reforms and the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, which had been removed by the federal government. The protests turned violent, leading to the tragic shooting of some protesters.

Sanusi Bature stated that the primary task of the upcoming commission will be to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shootings, identify the root causes of looting of public and private properties during the protests, and determine those responsible for these actions.

In addition to setting up the commission, the state government has also announced the prosecution of 632 suspects accused of vandalizing public buildings. These suspects have already been arraigned before various courts in the state.

Bature emphasized the state government's commitment to maintaining peace and order, warning that anyone found guilty of vandalism will be arrested and prosecuted.
