Festus Keyamo, a representative for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) to order the secret police to detain Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the recently concluded presidential election.
Keyamo, who is currently the Minister of State for Labor and Employment, requested that Obi and his running mate, Datti Ahmed, be detained and charged with a crime involving "incitement and treason."
In the petition dated March 23 and addressed to the Director General of State Services, the minister expressed his opinion that in a post-election period like this, it is important to calm frayed nerves, bring down the temperature, and start the healing process.
Keyamo noted that since the declaration of the presidential election results, Obi and his running mate have been hopping from one media house to the other, making incendiary comments and claims regarding the declaration of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
