The Labour Party Directorate on Mobilization and Integration has firmly denied any plans to replace Peter Obi as their presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

This clarification comes in response to rumors circulating on social media suggesting that the party had reconciled with the Apapa-led faction and agreed to field a different candidate.

In a statement signed by Marcel Ngogbehei, the Director General of the Directorate, along with Deputy Director Media and Communications Aju Elumelu and Deputy Director of Strategic Engagement Sheikh Rufai Al-Saddiq, the party dismissed these claims as false.

Ngogbehei acknowledged ongoing efforts to reconcile various factions within the party but emphasized that no agreement has been made regarding the 2027 presidential election.

“The Leadership and members of our great Party recognize the importance of this great admonition based on our African culture of ensuring peaceful coexistence among Brothers and acknowledging the fact that there’s a bigger target – liberating Nigeria from the shackles of greedy politicians and building a Nation that protects the interest of its citizens," Ngogbehei stated.

He further explained that the party is committed to resolving internal misunderstandings through peaceful means.

“This effort within the Labour Party and its successes has elicited different reactions; and also, we have seen an attempt by the opposition to make a false spin for their own selfish interest, misinforming the general public with the aim of causing more crisis in our Party," the statement continued.

For the record, the Directorate was established to facilitate reconciliation and help mobilize and integrate Labour Party stakeholders toward securing an electoral victory for their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in 2027.

The Labour Party remains steadfast in its support for Peter Obi and its mission to create a better future for Nigeria.
