Ajadi, a suspected ritualist, was detained by police operatives in Ajadi Arin village, in the Ayedire local government area of Osun State, for allegedly killing and dismembering his lover, Ashiata Salimon, after she paid a visit to the suspect.

Ashiata was reported missing four weeks ago after visiting Ajadi at his home in the village of Oke-Osun.

Some of her relatives, however, feared she had been kidnapped by her lover and reported the matter to Amotekun agents in Iwo.

Her body was eventually discovered dead, having been mutilated for purported ceremonial purposes.

The Field Commander of Osun Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, confirmed the event, saying the suspect escaped when operatives went to his residence to invite him.

One of the sons of the victim and a friend of her mother reported the matter to us at Iwo community. Our men swung into action, but before we got to the house of Ajadi, he had fled. The matter was later reported to the police, and the suspect was arrested at Laupon in Oyo State.
“Ajadi killed the woman and dismembered her corpse at Ajadi Arin Village, Oke-Osun, Osun State," he said.
