A Nigerian man, identified as Chris, has sparked reactions on social media after sharing a surprising encounter with an online vendor.
Taking to the microblogging platform, X (formerly Twitter), Chris narrated how an act of kindness turned into a frustrating ordeal, shedding light on the importance of integrity in business.
Chris revealed that a female vendor reached out to him privately, pleading for his patronage. She confessed that she had not made any sales all year and desperately needed a breakthrough. Moved by her plight, Chris decided to support her by purchasing an item worth ₦10,000, with an additional ₦10,000 for delivery. However, things took a dramatic turn when Chris mistakenly transferred ₦200,000 instead of the ₦20,000 payment.
Unaware of the error, Chris only discovered the mistake three days later. He reached out to the vendor, explaining the situation and requesting a refund of ₦150,000. To his dismay, the vendor refused to return the money and eventually stopped responding to his messages.
Taking his frustration online, Chris called out the vendor, hoping the public post would prompt her to act. He firmly stated that she should refund the excess payment without further delay.
The story has since gone viral, with many users discussing the importance of honesty and ethical practices in online businesses. Chris’s experience serves as a lesson for both customers and vendors about the value of trust and accountability in financial transactions.
