The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested Shuaibu Isiaka, a 58-year-old resident of Tudun Gwandara, Lafia, on charges of fraud.
Isiaka is accused of defrauding a member of the public by falsely claiming connections with the State Governor.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, August 11, by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the command, Isiaka allegedly obtained N17 million from the victim by pretending to have been awarded a contract by the Nasarawa State Government.
The statement detailed: “Police operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested Shuaibu Isiaka, also known as Ziko, for fraudulently using the name of the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State to deceive and defraud an unsuspecting individual of Seventeen Million Naira.”
The arrest followed a petition filed against Isiaka, who, during interrogation, admitted to the crime but claimed that the amount involved was actually N14 million, not N17 million as initially alleged.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has mandated a thorough investigation into the case and instructed investigators to pursue any individuals connected to the offense, regardless of their status.
