Another Chibok schoolgirl has been saved by Sector One, Operation Hadin Kai, troops in Borno State's Bama Local Government Area.

The Chibok girl Aisha Grema and her 4-year-old child were both rescued on Friday.

Terrorists from Boko Haram kidnapped 276 female students, mostly Christians, between the ages of 16 and 18, in April 2014, from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State.

As of 2021, Grema was the eleventh kidnapped student from Chibok who was still being held captive.

The Nigerian Army said the victim and her child were saved by soldiers from the 21st Special Armoured Brigade, Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai at Bama LGA, Borno, in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Saturday.

According to the statement, three other girls — Mwanret Daspan (29), Claris Fidel (22), a national of Chad, and Hauwa (12) — were rescued by troops of 242 battalion, Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, at Mongonu LGA in Borno State.

Salamatu Yahaya, President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), donated relief materials and financial support to the rescued girls at the Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.

She commended the troops for their efforts and said the rescued people would be supported by the military and the Borno government to reunite them with their families.

Over 100 girls have so far been rescued in the last seven years.
