The installation of the current Balogun of Ibadanland, Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland may face delays, according to information gathered by Naijacrawl.
The Olubadan stool became vacant following the passing of the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Olakulehin had been nominated as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland by the members of the Olubadan-in-Council at a meeting chaired by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Friday, April 12, 2024.
However, a fresh crisis between the former governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, and other kingmakers, may cause delays in Olakulehin's installation.
Ladoja expressed readiness to withdraw a lawsuit against members of the Olubadan-in-Council under certain conditions, during a meeting with Mogajis in Ibadanland led by Chief Asimiyu Ariori at his Bodija residence.
On the other hand, other members of the Olubadan-in-Council argued against signing any terms of settlement, stating that they had already abided by the 1957 declaration.
During a meeting held at Olubadan palace in Ibadan, Osi Balogun, Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe, Asipa Olubadan Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Asipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola, Ekerin Balogun, John Isioye-Dada, and Ekaarun Olubadan, Adebayo Akande, affirmed their compliance with the 1957 Chieftaincy Declaration.
As of the time of filing this report, the installation date for the next Olubadan remains uncertain.
