Diezani Allison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has requested the Nigerian community in the UK to keep her in their thoughts and prayers amidst the allegations and charges of bribery and corruption brought against her by the United Kingdom National Crime Agency (NCA).
She shared, "I am in need of prayers. Please pray for me," following the courtroom hearing on the fifth floor.
A prominent lawyer who traveled from Nigeria to represent his client, Benedict Peters, expressed his belief that "the case lacks substance" and is unlikely to succeed.
Emeka Ozoani (SAN), speaking to the press outside the court, contended that "the NCA has invested five to six years in investigating the case and is attempting to justify their use of taxpayers' money. I came to represent one of the individuals associated with the case."
When asked if he had flown from Nigeria solely for the hearing, he responded, "Yes, I traveled here because of my client."
