In a devastating incident that has shaken the community of Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Ifeanyi Michael Isibor, a renowned farmer and resident of the region, lost his life yesterday in a shocking turn of events on his farm.
Ifeanyi Michael Isibor, hailing from Onicha-Ugbo, had established himself as one of the largest farmers in the area, boasting commendable records and achievements within a relatively short span of time. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when he was fatally shot on his farm.
The circumstances surrounding Michael's death are believed to be linked to an ongoing conflict with Fulani men, who were reportedly grazing their cattle on Michael's crops. Despite Michael's efforts to address the situation by employing six Northerners to work on his farm, tensions escalated, leading to a violent encounter.
On the evening of March 7th, Michael was attacked and forced out of his farm by the Fulani men. Undeterred, he returned the following day with his workers, only to meet a tragic fate. The exact details remain unclear, but during an interrogation with his workers, it was suggested that Michael, armed with his long-barrel gun, suffered a mysterious gunshot wound, allegedly self-inflicted.
Heartbreakingly, the workers claimed their inability to assist Michael promptly, preventing him from being transported to a nearby hospital. The loss of blood proved fatal, resulting in his untimely demise.
This incident sheds light on the escalating tensions between the Fulani community and Northerners in Onicha-Ugbo, emphasizing the need for urgent intervention from local leaders to ensure justice prevails. Recent negative incidents involving these groups have raised concerns, and swift action is crucial to prevent further casualties and potential unrest in Aniocha North.
In memory of Ifeanyi Michael Isibor, known for his contributions to the local farming community under the banner of Lifted Klyns Culture, we extend our condolences and call for a thorough investigation and justice for his tragic loss. It is our hope that community leaders and authorities step in promptly to address these issues and prevent further tragedies in the region. May he rest in peace.
