In Imo State, a middle-aged man narrowly escaped a fatal attack by armed men suspected to be herdsmen.
The incident unfolded on the man's farm, although the exact location remains unverified as of now.
Upon receiving a video depicting the aftermath of the assault on Tuesday, revealed that the victim was severely injured and undergoing treatment in a hospital facility. The video shows the man with deep cuts on his head, arms, and neck, indicating the brutality of the attack.
It was gathered that the motive behind the attack was the man's courageous act of confronting the herdsmen, urging them to vacate his farm as their cattle were causing extensive damage to his crops.
The voice in the video identifies the attackers as "Fulani herdsmen" and highlights the severity of the injuries inflicted on the victim. The narration states, "The man was attacked by Fulani herdsmen. We thank God that he was brought to the hospital on time. You can see the deep cuts they gave him in the neck, head, and arms. With this, you can tell that they had the intention to kill him."
Despite attempts to obtain a response from the spokesman for the state police command, ASP Henry Okoye, no respond from him.
This distressing incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by farmers in dealing with the destruction of their crops by cattle and the potential dangers associated with confronting those responsible. The incident underscores the need for swift and effective measures to address conflicts between farmers and herders, ensuring the safety and security of individuals within the community.
