The Service Chiefs proposed by President Bola Tinubu are currently being screened by an Ad Hoc Committee of the House of Representatives.



The speaker appointed the committee to screen the candidates in accordance with the Armed Forces Act, which is presided over by Lagos State lawmaker Babajimi Benson.

As previously mentioned, the Service Chiefs are Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, and Christopher Musa as Chief of Defense Staff.

In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff said the “AFN under my leadership will be people-centric by prioritizing and safeguarding our people and their legitimate way of life as prescribed by the Nigerian Constitution.”

He added, “I am committed to ensuring a conducive and secure environment for the protection of lives and properties so that socio-economic activities can thrive.”

The Chief of Army Staff, who also spoke, also assured the lawmakers of his commitment to the welfare of the people under his watch.

Following the remarks, Mr. Benson announced that the committee will have a “serious conversation” with the nominees.
