In a significant development, twenty-seven lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaehule, convened an early morning session at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.

During the session, our correspondent reports that the lawmakers successfully addressed two critical issues related to the suspension of the strike by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PSAN). Additionally, they urged the police to take legal action regarding the recent burning of the assembly chamber.

Notably, the assembly complex saw heightened security measures with four police vans stationed at the entrance, restricting both vehicular and human movement along the Moscow Road axis of Port Harcourt. The sitting itself was conducted under tight security, emphasizing the sensitivity of the matters discussed.

Following the session, senior police officers were observed locking the entrance of the state Assembly complex, further underscoring the tense atmosphere. As a precautionary measure, additional police officers have been deployed at the gate of the Assembly complex, highlighting the ongoing significance of the situation in Rivers State. Stay tuned for further updates as the events unfold.
