A complaint seeking the removal of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and his deputy, Dr.
Kelechi Igwe, from office was dismissed by an appeals court in Enugu on Friday.
According to the lawsuit, Umahi was removed from office after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senator Soni Ogbuoji, the APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election, and her running mate, Justin Mbam, filed the lawsuit.
Umahi, Igwe, and 17 other lawmakers in the state were recently fired by an Abuja High Court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo for defecting from the PDP to the APC.
However, on February 28, 2022, the High Court in Abakaliki dismissed the identical complaint.
The suit was dismissed for being inconsistent with the constitution and extant laws of the country.
