In a attempt to defraud a Lagos business, a woman identified as Linda Ihebinike was apprehended by a vigilant Point of Sale (POS) operator in Lagos.

The quick thinking of the operator prevented a potential loss of 90,000 Naira due to Linda's attempt to use counterfeit 1000 Naira notes.

Linda Ihebinike's brazen attempt to deposit 90,000 Naira of fake 1000 Naira notes through the POS system raised suspicions when Ihebinike seemed in a hurry, eager to complete the transaction before making a swift exit to withdraw "official" notes elsewhere.

However, the alert POS operator, who was processing the transaction, immediately recognized the counterfeit notes upon inspection. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the POS operator discreetly signaled to a colleague, initiating a rapid response from security personnel and local law enforcement.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the authenticity of the fake currency, leading to the prompt arrest of Linda Ihebinike.

The Police, further investigation confirmed that the 1000 Naira notes were indeed counterfeit. Linda Ihebinike was immediately taken into custody for attempting to defraud the business using fake currency.

In a statement to the press, SP Benjamin Hundeyin emphasized that the Lagos State Police are actively investigating the matter, urging businesses and individuals to remain vigilant against such criminal activities.
