The Aéroport International Felix Houphouet Boigny d’Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, welcomed the arrival of the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to commence on Saturday.
Departing from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday morning, the team was led by coach Jose Peseiro and captain Ahmed Musa.
Prior to their departure to Abidjan, the team enjoyed a dinner hosted by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday at the State House, Marina, Lagos.
Joining the ranks of participating teams in Cote d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles now stand alongside the Atlas Lions of Morocco, Egypt, Mozambique, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, and others.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is anticipated to lead the Eagles' offensive efforts in Ivory Coast.
The tournament's schedule for the Eagles includes their first match against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14, 2024, followed by subsequent games against the host country Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday, January 18, and Guinea Bissau on Monday, January 22, 2024. The stage is set, and Nigeria's football enthusiasts eagerly await the team's performance in this prestigious continental competition.
