Ansu Fati's second-half entry made all the difference in Barcelona's 1-4 La Liga victory over Real Sociedad as he scored once and provided two assists.
Although they put up a valiant effort, the Basques were ultimately outmatched. Barcelona defeated Real Sociedad 1-4 to earn their first win of the year, but the game was much closer than the score indicates. Lewandowski gave Barca the lead in the opening minute, but Isak quickly tied the score.
For the first 65 minutes of the game, it was very evenly matched, but Ansu Fati and Raphinha's introductions made all the difference. In a span of two minutes, Ousmane Dembele and Lewandowski each scored, and Fati then added one more goal. His goal and two assists in 25 minutes were the game changers in a match which looked to be heading for a draw.
Real Sociedad went to attack right from the off and Barcelona punished them on the counter inside the first minute. Kubo felt he was fouled inside the Barca area. Pedri played the ball to 18-year-old Alex Balde, who sprinted towards the Sociedad goal, and he laid off for the Pole, who hit past home goalkeeper Alex Remiro. It was the perfect start for Xavi’s side after failing to score in their opener against Rayo Vallecano, but the lead was short-lived.
