Former Manchester City defender, Joleon Lescott, has pinpointed one key area in which striker Erling Haaland is better than Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi.
Haaland and Messi have been impressive for their respective club sides so far this season.
The Norway international has scored 19 goals and provided three assists across all competitions for Man City, while Messi has scored eight goals and provided eight assists for PSG in 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
While Messi has worked with Man City manager Pep Guardiola during their time together at Barcelona, the Spaniard currently manages Haaland at Etihad.
Speaking to BT Sport, Lescott said that Guardiola had not previously worked with someone as "instinctive" as Haaland.
Lescott said (via Manchester Evening News): “There have been comparisons to Messi and, obviously, there is a lot of difference between their styles."
But I don’t think Pep will have worked with anyone as instinctive as Haaland before.
