Graham Potter has been fired by Chelsea, the club has confirmed, following Saturday's defeat to Aston Villa.
The club's official website has confirmed the news.
“Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club, according to a statement.
“Graham has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid.
Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contributions and wish him well for the future.”
Potter has had a poor run of form and has not performed to expectations since joining the club from Brighton & Hove Albion on September 20, 2022.
He came under immense pressure on Saturday after the Blues were beaten 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, leaving them 11th in the table.
Reacting to the loss at Stamford Bridge, Potter said, “I don’t like to blame anybody; I have to take responsibility."
As for the jeers of the fans, the former Brighton boss added: “We can feel the pain of the supporters... I understand that when you lose at home, the emotion of the game is such that people are going to be disappointed, frustrated, and angry.
