Manager Graham Potter’s sacking is set to cost Chelsea a massive amount of money.
Chelsea announced their decision to sack Potter on Sunday night, after the team’s 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Potter, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in September, took charge of the Premier League giants for 31 games, winning 12, drawing 8, and losing 10.
The Englishman signed a five-year deal that was worth £12 million per year.
Therefore, the total cost of the contract was £60 million.
Chelsea needed to buy out the remainder of Potter’s contract to sack him.
Considering Potter has already served half a year, the total procedure is set to cost close to £50 million.
Potter also brought a few backroom staff members with him to the west London club. Chelsea are expected to pay them off as well, meaning the expense could be well north of £60 million.
