Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has named former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann as the possible manager to succeed Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge after the Englishman was sacked on Sunday.
Leboeuf also claimed that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, and former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique would likely turn down replacing Potter because of a possible lack of UEFA Champions League football next season.
Potter was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday night, and a number of top European managers have been linked with the Blues job.
Speaking on ESPN, Leboeuf, who wanted Chelsea to appoint Zidane to take over from Potter, said, “I will go for Zidane." I know thats what you want me to say.
“I have received texts since we talked about Potter’s sacking saying, Call your friend, Zidane. "Ask him to come.”
He added, “The thing is, Chelsea aren’t going to qualify for the Champions League next season. I doubt that Zidane would go to a club that would only challenge for the Premier League and not the Champions League.
“(This may also apply to) Diego Simeone and Luis Enrique. Then you would have to go to, sorry, "B" list. So, Nagelsmann, maybe?”
