Manchester City will be without Aymeric Laporte when they face Liverpool in Saturday’s Community Shield game.
After having knee surgery in the summer, Laporte is set to miss the first month of the season.
Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Spaniard played through the pain barrier to help City win the Premier League title last season.
New signings Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, and Julian Alvarez are all available for the game against the Reds.
“Laporte is injured. He had knee surgery after last season, played the last two or three games with an important injury and made an incredible effort.
“He had surgery and so far is doing really well, but you have to be careful with your knee." I think through August he will be out, by September I think maybe he will start to be with us,” Guardiola told reporters.
