Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has sent an emotional message to football icon Pele that he ‘must get better.
’
The former Manchester United forward said this following Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland in the last-16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo, who was dropped from Portugal’s starting XI for the game against Switzerland, sent a message of support for the Brazil legend, who is currently recovering in hospital. He hoped for the 82-year-old’s quick recovery.
“Get better; get better for Pelé." Our King has to get better. "That is all we want,” Ronaldo said (via UOL).
On Saturday, Pele was moved to end-of-life care at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo after he stopped responding to chemotherapy.
