The Spanish world class stopper cum Manchester united No.
1 goalkeeper David De Gea is being hopeful by Manchester united to extend his contract with the Red Devils due to the fact that De Gea's intending club Real Madrid have signed the best goalkeeper in the just concluded FIFA world cup Thibaut Courtios.
It is instructive to note that before the Transfer's Window closed in England last Thursday, Courtios had a last minute agreement to move from Chelsea to Real Madrid with £35 million. And with Courtios successful deal with Madrid, it is now crystal clear that De Gea only option now is to extend his contract with the Red Devils since his dream club have signed another player.
Though De Gea failed to move to Madrid in 2015 by signing a deal with Manchester united, that deal has one year and a 12 month option left to run and United are keen to agree fresh terms with the 27-year-old, who has been performing incredibly for the club and has won the club's player of the year award in four of the past five seasons, though he has been eyeing to be their stopper at Bernabeu.
Sources have affirmed that United were confident De Gea would sign an extension before Courtois' move. But there is an acceptance that Real Madrid's investment in the Belgian, who is 18 months younger than De Gea, will now help to smooth the process now.
