A few weeks after joining Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League, midfielder Chidi Ernest has left the team.

In June, Ernest agreed to a two-year contract with the Ochendo Boys.

Following mutual consent, the 23-year-old midfielder's contract was verbally terminated.

At the conclusion of the previous season, Ernest left Gombe United.

Before the 2023–24 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League begins, he is anticipated to decide on his future.

September 8 is anticipated to be the start of the new season.
